Presidium celebrated WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY to showcase the talent of Presidians by organizing a Photography contest for grades 4-9. The students participated enthusiastically in the contest and shared mesmerizing pictures clicked by them as per various themes like Nature, Food, Portrait, Texture, Your Surrounding, and Hope allotted to respective classes 4-9. The Judgement was done by the Eminent Photographer of HOCUS POCUS and the team.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY BESTOWS NEW ROLES ON THE FUTURE LEADERS

"Leaders are not born but are made by their experiences in life."

To inculcate the leadership qualities in the students and to give them a sense of functioning of an administrative body, Presidium held the Virtual Investiture Ceremony (2021-22). The portfolios of the elected student leaders were displayed along with their photographs. It was a proud moment for all the parents to witness their children being invested as they embarked on a new journey as leaders. The event was graced by our beloved Chairperson Sudha Gupta Ma’am who motivated and wished the student leaders in completing responsibilities entrusted to them in the year ahead. The Head Girl and the Head Boy along with the Vice Principal took the oath to perform their duties with ample devotion. The event concluded with a school song by the school choir and a vote of thanks proposed by the Head girl and the Head Boy. The objective of the event was to espouse the confidence, development of leadership qualities, and sense of responsibility among the students.

To honour the freedom and glory of the nation, Presidium celebrated the 75th Independence Day. The talented Presidians displayed patriotic fervor through magnificent activities urging everyone to just stay mesmerized. The activities brought forth the unique features of India and its national symbols. Students made the tricolour miniatures innovatively and adorned the colours of the nation which has added joy to this special festival of freedom. Indeed, it was a day of elation, a day of love and respect for the country, instilling in the Presidians, value, and reverence for the gift of freedom by the great leaders of the country.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY!

"Swami Vivekananda always said that youth is the best time and the -way we utilize our time, decides the coming years that lie ahead." To share this message on International Youth Day, students of Presidium marked an awareness day and drew attention to a given set of cultural, social, and legal issues surrounding youth, to raise awareness of challenges and problems faced by the world’s youth. In the special assembly, students shared their ideas in front of their peers confidently focusing on their idea to bring a change in our society/country on this International Youth Day.

STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PIOUS FESTIVAL OF ONAM

Onam was celebrated amidst much fanfare involving all the students of the school. Students celebrated the festival with various activities like making attractive floral decorations (pookalam) reminiscent of the agrarian past of Kerala, a South Indian state. Impressive designs and artistic creativity were the hallmarks of the Pookalam, which turned out to be attractive and mesmerizing and took everyone into a world of festivity and fun. Handmade Onam cards and various other activities made the festival a memorable one.

BUDDING AUTHORS HONE THEIR CREATIVE SKILLS WITH WRITING ACTIVITY

Presidium has organized English Creative Writing Activity for Grade IX who tackled the topic assigned with immense zeal and enthusiasm. Students gave full expression to their creative ideas and penned them down in the form of beautiful essays, poems, and pictures. The competition provided an opportunity for budding authors to hone their creative skills. The topic for the activity was’ The Dark and the Stormy Night’. They wrote some eye-catching articles. The compositions were very vivid and impressive. The young participants distinguished themselves as exemplary writers sharing vivid images and deep emotions and perceiving the world around them in a mature way.

STUDENTS STRENGTHEN THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF DATA HANDLING CONCEPTS

Presidium strongly believes in Experiential Learning and its learning outcomes, therefore a subject-related activity was conducted to promote it. Such activity aims at stimulating enthusiasm, introducing important mathematical concepts, and teaching major strategies for problem-solving, developing mathematical flexibility in solving problems. Activity related to Histogram and Pie Chart was conducted in Grade VIII to develop the understanding of data handling concepts and their application in daily life under the able guidance of teachers. Students participated with great zeal and developed an understanding of the concept. These types of activities being held regularly in the school increase the mental ability of students as it involves mental exercise.

PAPER BAG ACTIVITY: STUDENTS INCULCATE THE HABIT OF RECYCLING

Taking this thought forward, students of grade II participated in Club Activity and the objective of the activity was to indulge students in the habit of recycling by teaching them how to make paper bags and making them aware of the threat of using plastic bags in the environment. The students were taught how to make paper bags using newspapers and different types of other waste papers. The students were quite enthusiastic about the whole activity. Trying to give a new dimension to creativity, as a part of club activity, the students explored their art of making the paper bags more attractive.

PRESIDIANS BUILD THEIR OBSERVATION SKILLS WITH SEED GERMINATION

“One must learn by doing the thing, for though you think you know it- you have no certainty until you try.” Taking that into account Presidium School invited students to participate in the Science subject activity of Germination, the sprouting of the seed. The intention was to make them learn or understand how plants can be grown from seeds and essential elements required for the process in a better way. Once the child germinates the seed, he/she will remember the process and the factors that affect the process for a really long time. Our young Presidians actively participated in it and sent their amazing pictures of sprouted seeds to show the process of germination. They put in tremendous hard work to exhibit their aptitude which is appreciable. It was an effective and impactful activity wherein the students got an opportunity to display their hidden talent and to learn in an innovative manner.

STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT DIFFERENT TYPES OF SOIL

Map skills revolve around spatial thinking, without it, students can’t really comprehend the phenomena related to space and places around them. Teaching map skills is one crucial part of the development and education of every student. A map activity was conducted in Grade X in Presidium to help students synthesize and integrate information, ideas, and concepts. The topic of this activity was ‘Types of Soil’ on the map of India.’ On the physical map of India, students filled different types of Soil in different places. During this activity, students gained knowledge about the distribution of soil in India along with their characteristics and they know how soil is a critical part of successful agriculture and is the original source of the nutrients that we use to grow crops.
