PRESIDIANS IMPROVE DICTION THROUGH A DECLAMATION COMPETITION
Declamation refers to one’s capacity of communicating with others, through exact speech and
gestures. To enhance the oratory skills of the students an ‘Inter-Class Declamation Competition’
was conducted in the school wherein students from Grades 6 to 8 faced the audience with confidence and delivered their speech with correct diction, clarity and voice modulation. Students spoke with charisma and a positive thought which established a connection with the listeners.
A healthy competitive spirit enlightened the faces of the students who conveyed their feelings on some of the serious issues that are occurring in the world around us every day. Keeping in mind the judgement criteria students focused on aspects like culmination of voice, quality, speech content, and the delivery standards. The competition enabled the students to enhance their communication skills with clarity and finesse.
PRESIDIUM WALK ON THE PATH OF PEACE & HARMONY ON BUDDHA PURNIMA
Presidium Raj Nagar celebrated Buddha Purnima on 18th May. Through the celebration we imparted that the festival of Buddha Purnima is traditionally celebrated to commemorate the birth of Siddhartha
Gautama, who later became Gautama Buddha and went on to become the founder of Buddhism.
The celebration began with the reverberating sound of the morning prayer followed by a song which motivated each and every child to be optimistic. Students were shown the acts showcasing how this day celebrates Siddhartha’s choice to embrace a spiritual quest wherein he renounced all worldly pleasures to become a holy man. They also represented a Dance-Drama in front of everyone which was followed by the Teachings of Lord Buddha. The celebration ended with the chanting of the Divine Mantra “Buddham-Sharnam-Gachchami”.
“CHITRA VARNAN” ACTIVITY: A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS!
Presidium Raj Nagar conducted an activity named “Chitra Varnan” for the students of Grade 4, where in the students were shown some pictures and they had to describe the picture as per their perception.
Pictures or images provide another way of presenting information, and increasing understanding.
Students were taught some of the tips to describe the picture and they skillfully adapted the methods
taught to them by their teachers in the class. Each student made sure that their picture description is
logically structured, for example: from left to right (or from right to left), from the background to the
foreground (or from the foreground to the background), from the middle to the sides (or from the sides
to the middle), from details to general impressions (or from general impressions to details). Which
structure the students finally opted for depended on their temperament and how they perceive what
was shown to them.
INTERACTIVE MAP ACTIVITY MAKES LEARNING GEOGRAPHY INTRIGUING
“There is an eternal landscape, a geography of the soul; we search for its outlines all our lives.”
Students at Presidium Raj Nagar were engaged in an interactive Map Activity which was conducted as part of their Geography Curriculum. Maps not only help the students understand the territorial borders but also help them reinforce the theoretical concepts in a fun way. Students were able to visualise every region discussed during the activity which led to a better learning process altogether.
PRESIDIANS EXPRESS GRATITUDE TO THEIR MOTHERS ON MOTHER’S DAY
There is no love in this world greater than that of a mother for her child. Celebrating this precious and unconditional love of a mother, a special assembly marking Mother's Day, was conducted at Presidium Raj Nagar. Children from different grades participated in various activities organised for them. As a token of love and gratitude for their mothers, they made special handmade cards for them. The children also performed on heart-touching songs and dance sequences. It was a memorable moment indeed to see children valuing the greatest bond of love on earth-a mother’s love!
A WONDERFUL DISPLAY OF CONFIDENCE AT RHYME RECITATION COMPETITION
Rhymes enjoy an undisputed importance in the life of a kindergartener. Teaching of nursery rhymes not only develops speaking skills but also helps express their feelings through facial expression and gestures. Understanding poems makes a child sensitive and reciting the same makes them creative. A strong performance is one in which the meaning of the poem is powerfully and clearly conveyed to the audience. This was displayed beautifully by the students of grades Nursery and Prep, when they participated in English & Hindi Rhyme Competition, held at Presidium School, Raj Nagar. The students made all the characters of each rhyme come alive. They enthralled their teachers and friends with their memory skills while reciting rhymes and ended the competition with a beautiful group dance. It was an excellent opportunity for them to gain confidence through stage exposure.
SCIENCE ACTIVITY: PRESIDIANS LEARN ABOUT ‘SEPARATION OF MATTER’
Observation more than books, experience rather than persons, are the prime educators. Keeping this in mind, under the Science topic ‘Separation of Matter’ Presidians of Grade 6 explored various methods of separating the substances. Building up on the same concept, sieving, filtration, centrifugation and evaporation was demonstrated in the class. Students enjoyed the activity and participated enthusiastically. Overall, the activity involved science aptitude which lead to accomplishment of the task, at the same time they developed understanding of separation of matter. By the end of the activity, they were able to understand the concept of separation very well.
BECOMING CONSCIOUS PEOPLE WITH ‘GOOD TOUCH, BAD TOUCH’ ACTIVITY
An activity on ‘Good Touch, Bad Touch’ was recently organized for Primary Students at Presidium, Raj Nagar. It was conducted to support the cause of creating awareness on child safety. All the students of grade Nursery-Prep participated in the activity that was held over different sessions. Every child needs to be taught that their body belongs to them and they have a right to protect it with this in mind, teachers taught the children how to identify the ‘No Touch’ areas. Also to understand who ‘Safe Adults’ are, a ‘Safe Circle’ activity was conducted wherein the students pasted the pictures of their parents and guardians. The activity also highlighted how to handle a bad touch by shouting and running away from the person and informing a safe adult about the same and how to clearly communicate with parents about any bad experience was explained through dramatization. Under the guidance of the teachers, the students were also shown a PPT presentation and some videos, so that they could understand the difference between good and bad touch. With this session, children will now be able to recognize and protect themselves against such dangers from an early age.
