STORYTELLING GIVES WINGS TO OUR PRESIDIANS IMAGINATION

24-11-2021

A wise man once said, “After nourishment, shelter, and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.”

It’s the stories that give wings to our imagination and take us to places beyond the boundaries of our physical world and into the land of fairies, dragons, and wishing trees. It is in our imagination that we embrace things and situations that we shy away from the real world. Since time immemorial, storytelling has been an integral part of our childhood. To keep the tradition going and to incite curiosity and the love for reading in children, a storytelling competition was held by Presidium. The young, enthusiastic storytellers armed with their props came forth with wonderful tales. While some stories gave them food for thought and some reinforced moral values. STUDENTS ENHANCE THEIR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT FRACTIONS

20-11-2021

Fraction is an important topic in elementary grades. At the same time, it is one of the most challenging topics for students to understand. The concept of fractions may be well introduced in second grade with manipulatives but they need to go through a gradual process moving from the concrete, the semi-concrete, and the abstract in order for them to see fractions as numbers. Presidium conducted an activity on fractions where students recognized parts and wholes both visually and numerically. They understood which number in a fraction is the numerator and which is the denominator. They were able to identify which values are greater than or lesser than. Students will now apply their new knowledge of fractions by creating a fraction museum with manipulatives.
